Lok Sabha Polls: Congress To Participate In Exit Poll TV Debates; BJP Takes Jibe Over U-turn In 24 Hrs

Minutes after Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday took a U-turn from the party’s decision to stay away from the Exit Polls, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya took a jibe at the party for changing their decision within 24 hours of the announcement. The BJP leader further attacked the Congress party for not sticking to their decision, stating that the party cannot make such a simple decision and wants to govern the country.

Malviya’s jibe came after the Congress party reversed its decision to stay away from the Exit Polls at a meeting with allies of the INDIA bloc.

“24 hours after making a complete fool of themselves, Congress withdraws its decision to boycott Exit Polls. A party that can’t take such a simple decision wants to govern India?” Malviya tweeted.

Congress’s media and publicity department head Pawan Khera on Saturday said INDIA bloc parties met and decided to expose the BJP and its ecosystem on the prefixed exit polls.

“After considering factors for and against participating in the exit polls, it has been decided by consensus that all the INDIA (bloc) parties will participate in the exit poll debates on television this evening,” he said in a post on X.

On Friday, Khera had said people have cast their votes and their verdict has been secured.

“The results will be out on 4th June. Prior to that, we do not see any reason to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP,” he had said in a statement shared on X.

“The Indian National Congress will not participate in the debates on exit polls. The purpose of any debate should be to inform the people. We will happily partake in debates from June 4 onwards,” Khera had said.
